Perfluorinated Rotor Centrifugal Extractor

Perfluorinated Rotor Centrifugal Extractor

The perfluorinated rotor centrifugal extractor adopts an integrally formed rotor drum made of high-strength PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) material. On the premise of optimally ensuring technical parameters, it effectively replaces metal materials, featuring resistance to strong acid, strong alkali and polar solvent corrosion, as well as a wide applicable temperature range. It has been applied in working conditions such as high-concentration hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid and tributyl phosphate (TBP), achieving excellent results.

 Product Overview

The Perfluorinated Rotor Centrifugal Extractor is designed for liquid-liquid extraction applications where chemical compatibility, phase separation, and equipment configuration are critical process considerations.

Available in CTX-S models with rotor diameters from 50 to 800 mm, the equipment supports different processing capacities, from laboratory-scale operations to larger industrial applications.

For scale-up projects, review process data and operating conditions before finalizing the equipment configuration.

Material Configuration for Process Compatibility

Material selection depends on chemical composition, concentration, operating temperature, exposure conditions, and the components in contact with the process liquids.

  • PTFE: May be considered for components requiring chemical resistance and low surface adhesion.
  • Other Fluoropolymers: PFA, FEP, or PVDF may be considered where their chemical and mechanical properties meet the process requirements.
  • Stainless Steel: Suitable grades may be used for structural or wetted components, subject to the chemical environment and operating conditions.

The final material combination should be confirmed through technical review of the process conditions and wetted-part requirements. Please provide the chemical composition, concentration, and operating temperature for material evaluation.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between a centrifugal extractor and a conventional mixer-settler?

A: A centrifugal extractor combines liquid-phase mixing and centrifugal separation in a compact unit, while a mixer-settler uses separate mixing and settling zones. The preferred design depends on available space, phase behavior, and process requirements.

Q: Can a centrifugal extractor handle liquids with different densities?

A: Yes. The density difference between the two liquid phases helps centrifugal separation, while the required phase-discharge arrangement depends on the process and equipment design. The suitability of a specific liquid system should be assessed under its actual operating conditions.

Q: How does phase entrainment affect extraction performance?

A: Entrainment occurs when droplets of one liquid phase remain in the other phase after separation, potentially reducing product purity and increasing solvent loss. Feed characteristics and operating conditions should be evaluated to control entrainment.

Q: What should be considered when integrating the extractor into an existing production line?

A: Review feed and discharge connections, upstream and downstream equipment, control-system interfaces, available utilities, and maintenance access. These requirements should be confirmed during layout and process integration planning.

Q: What maintenance checks should be included in routine operation?

A: Routine checks should cover rotor condition, bearings, seals, vibration, unusual noise, and leakage, following the manufacturer's maintenance instructions. Inspection intervals should be determined by operating conditions and service requirements.
