Overview
The PGZ Series Vertical Automatic Bottom Discharge Centrifuge is a batch-type solid-liquid filtration centrifuge with a vertical top-suspended spindle, inline cake washing and hydraulic scraper bottom discharge. It processes fine, granular, or fibrous solids suspended in liquids across chemical, pharmaceutical, food and fine-chemical processes..
Mechanical Design
- Basket Fabrication: SS304, SS316L, duplex 2205, titanium TA2 or Hastelloy C-276 (see Material Options), fully seal-welded and stress-relieved.
- Dynamic Balancing: Rotor assemblies balanced to ISO 21940 Grade G2.5 limits.
- Scraper: Hydraulic scraper lift and feed motions (pneumatic for small models), each monitored by dual limit switches.
- Spindle Bearing System: Supported by heavy-duty spherical roller bearings in cast frames with multi-lip radial or mechanical face seals.

Process Capability
- Particle Size Range: 10 microns to several millimeters.
- Feed Concentration: 5% to 50% solids by weight.
- Cycle Variables: Throughput depends on slurry viscosity, cake compressibility, and required wash ratios.
- Testing Support: Laboratory feed trials and pilot evaluations available to verify filtration velocity and residual cake moisture before final sizing.
Safety Controls
- Control Architecture: Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLC with industrial touchscreen HMI and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD).
- Mechanical Safety Interlocks: Prevents cover unlatching during rotation and locks out scraper engagement above low-speed discharge thresholds.
- Vibration Protection: Tri-axial vibration sensors trigger automatic shutdown upon excessive imbalance.
- Hazardous Certifications: Optional ATEX or IECEx compliance for Zone 1/21 or Zone 2/22 locations.
Utility & Installation Requirements
- Electrical Power: 380V / 440V, 3-Phase, 50 / 60 Hz.
- Compressed Air: 0.4 – 0.6 MPa (Clean, dry supply) for pneumatic controls.
- Hydraulic System Pressure: 6.3 – 10 MPa operating pressure.
- Inert Gas (N2) Supply: 0.2 – 0.4 MPa line pressure for housing purge options.
- Foundation Spec: Requires installation on a level concrete floor engineered for dynamic running loads; structural loading details provided in GA files. Concrete floor or steel platform designed for 2–3 times the machine weight including dynamic load. Vibration dampers are optional.

FAQ
1. When should I choose a vertical top-suspended scraper centrifuge over a horizontal peeler?
Choose a vertical model for baskets up to about 800 L when floor space is limited. Choose a horizontal peeler for larger batches, vapor-tight solvent duty, or low-ceiling facilities.
2. When is an automatic scraper better than a manual-unloading flat-plate centrifuge?
Choose an automatic scraper for more than 10 batches per day. Its 8–15 minute cycle requires no operator at the basket.
3. What cake moisture can I expect?
Typical results are 1–3% for ammonium sulfate and urea, 2–5% for sodium chloride, and 5–12% for starch. Coarse crystals with a narrow size distribution typically reach the lower end of these ranges.
4. How long does the filter cloth last?
Filter cloths typically last 3–6 months in abrasive service and 6–12 months with clean crystals.
5. How often should the spindle bearings be replaced?
Bearings typically require replacement every 3–5 years, or 25,000–40,000 operating hours. Annual vibration analysis helps schedule replacement before failure.
6. Can this centrifuge dewater wastewater or biological sludge?
No. Compressible or biological sludge can blind the filter cloth and produce a wet, sticky cake. The centrifuge is designed for inorganic precipitates and free-draining crystals such as gypsum and salt.
7. What do you need for sample testing and a quotation?
Please provide 2–5 kg of solids, particle-size data (D10/D50/D90), solids concentration, solvent, temperature, target moisture, and daily batch count.
8. What is the typical lead time?
Stainless steel models typically ship within 45–75 days after the deposit. Titanium and Hastelloy models usually take 90–120 days.
