Horizontal Piston Pusher Centrifuge

Keywords: horizontal continuous centrifuge continuous pusher centrifuge

Introduction

The HR Series Horizontal Piston Pusher Centrifuge is a continuous filtration centrifuge built for solid-liquid separation of coarse crystalline and granular solids. It is used in chemical, fertilizer, salt, and alkali production lines.

Two-Stage Pushing Mechanism

  • The cake forms in the inner basket and is moved forward into the outer basket on each stroke. During this transfer, the cake layer is loosened and reformed, improving drainage and washing. The outer end face of the inner basket then pushes the cake toward the discharge trough.
  • Driven by a hydraulic piston, the inner basket moves axially with a reciprocating stroke of 40 mm to 70 mm at a frequency of 30 to 80 cycles per minute.
  • The inner basket pushes the inner cake layer into the outer basket, and the outer end face of the inner basket pushes the filter cake toward the discharge trough.

Separation Capability

Particle Size: Processes crystals of 0.08 mm and above, with best results at 0.15–5 mm. Fines below 0.1 mm should not exceed about 10% by weight, as they pass through the screen slots and blind the screen.

Slurry Concentration: Best suited to feed slurries of 40–60% solids by weight. Pre-thicken slurries below 35% with a hydrocyclone or thickener; otherwise, fines are lost to the filtrate and the cake forms unevenly.

Material Suitability: Configured for free-draining, non-compressible crystalline solids and coarse granular particles.

Application Exclusions: Unsuitable for light colloidal materials, gelatinous sludges, or fine particulates below 0.08 mm.

Material Compatibility

Material Characteristics

Crystal Handling: The pusher moves the cake forward in short strokes, which causes some crystal breakage. Fines typically increase by 2–5% for crystals above 0.3 mm, and more for fragile crystals; the two-stage design reduces this by using a thinner cake layer per stage.

Product Purity Control

  • Integrated spray nozzles apply washing liquid directly to the cake layer.
  • Discharge options allow mother liquor and washing liquid to be collected separately or combined based on process needs.
  • Displaces remaining mother liquor from the crystal bed before final discharge.
  • Washing liquid volume and spray distribution can be adjusted to reduce soluble impurities in the cake.

Control System

  • Standard local electrical panel; optional PLC controls with a touch-screen interface for system integration.
  • Optional Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for speed adjustment.

Safety Protection

  • Optional explosion-proof motors and drive components configured for specified site hazardous environments.
  • Vibration sensors with automatic alarm and trip shutdown settings.
  • Safety interlock mechanisms to restrict machine operation while protective covers are open.

Quality Inspection

  • CNC precision machining for rotating components.
  • Chemical composition analysis and weld non-destructive testing (NDT) reports available upon request.
  • Dynamic balance testing for basket assemblies.
  • Mechanical run testing, vibration monitoring, and bearing temperature verification prior to dispatch.

FAQ

1. When should I choose a pusher centrifuge?

Choose a pusher centrifuge for continuous feeds of free-draining crystals above 0.1 mm at 3 t/h or more.

2. What residual moisture can I expect?

Typical results are 2–4% for sodium chloride, 1.5–3% for ammonium sulfate, 3–6% for ammonium chloride, and 4–8% for ammonium bicarbonate.

3. Does a two-stage pusher help?

A two-stage design can reduce breakage by about one-third because each stage handles a thinner cake layer.

4. How stable must the feed be?

Keep feed flow within ±10% of the set point using an agitated buffer tank with level control. Surges above 120% may trigger vibration protection.

5. How much wash liquid is needed?

Use 0.1–0.3 kg of wash liquid per kilogram of dry crystals to remove approximately 80–95% of mother-liquor impurities.

6. How often does the hydraulic system need service?

Change ISO VG 46 hydraulic oil every 4,000–6,000 hours or once a year. Replace the filter element every 1,000–2,000 hours and keep oil temperature below 55°C.

7. What are the installation requirements?

Install the machine on a concrete pad rated for approximately 2–3 times its weight, or on a steel platform with vibration dampers. Leave 1.5–2 m of clearance at the piston end for maintenance.

8. What do you need for sample testing and a quotation?

Please provide 2–5 kg of dry crystals, particle-size data (D10/D50/D90), solid density, feed solids concentration, temperature, pH or chloride content, target capacity, and target moisture.
